Having Trouble with Medicare Part D?
STEP ONE
If you or your clients have had trouble filling a prescription(s)
under the new Medicare drug program, let the Centers for Medicare
and Medicaid Services (CMS)—the agency that oversees both
Medicare and Medicaid—know so that they are aware of the problem
and can work to fix it.
In California:
Send an email to: Ernest.Tai@cms.hhs.gov,
Ekegler@cms.hhs.gov and
adonnelly@projectinform.org.
In other states:
Send an email to: lorraine.zicha@cms.hhs.gov, Ekegler@cms.hhs.gov
and hivma@idsociety.org.
Include in the email (include what you can):
- Briefly describe what happened
- Name your medication(s), especially if it is an HIV drug
- Pharmacy name and general location (city and state, at a minimum)
- Name of your prescription drug plan
- What you think caused the problem
- Any additional information you wish to provide
- You DO NOT NEED to include any personal information (and in
fact should not be emailing personal private information, such
as social security numbers or plan ID numbers)
STEP TWO
In California:
Project Inform and the San Francisco AIDS Foundation will be presenting
Medicare Part D related problems to Region IX of CMS (the region
that supports California), California and Federal Administration
officials, staff of elected officials at the state and federal level
and the media. We will also ensure that the national HIV Medicare
and Medicaid Working Group receives this information for its compilation
of national concerns. We will remove all personal information before
sharing stories. If you prefer to have your email sent anonymously
to CMS, email adonnelly@projectinform.org
directly, and we will remove personal identifying information and
forward the information to CMS.
In other states:
The HIV Medicare and Medicaid Working Group will be sharing Medicare
Part D stories with Administration officials, Congressional staff,
and the media. We will remove all personal information before sharing
stories. If you prefer to have your email sent anonymously to CMS,
email hivma@idsociety.org
directly, and we will remove personal identifying information and
forward the information to CMS.
Thank you.
