PI ACTION ALERT:
Urge Your House Representative
to Support Increase in Health Budget!
March 27, 2006
Two weeks ago, the Senate voted 73-27 for an amendment to the Fiscal
Year 2007 budget that will add $7 billion for health and education
programs. Now we have a chance to repeat that success in the House
of Representatives.
On Thursday, March 30th, Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) will
offer the same amendment to the House version of the budget resolution.
Without this increase, most HIV/AIDS services and other important
health programs for low-income people will likely continue to be
cut.
Please take a few minutes to continue fighting the Bush Administration's
attack on health care by calling your House Representative in support
of this amendment!
How you can help:
Before Thursday, March 30th, call your House Representative
in his/her Washington, DC office. Tell whoever answers the phone:
"My name is ___________ and I live in (city/state).
I urge Representative ______________ to support Representative DeLauro's
amendment to the Fiscal Year 2007 budget that would increase funding
for health and education programs by $7 billion. Many health programs
that serve people with HIV/AIDS have suffered from years of inadequate
funding and need this help. I would like Representative____________
to convey his/her support to members of the House Budget Committee."
You can call your Representative toll-free at 1-800-426-8073. If
that number is busy, the regular number for the Capitol switchboard
is 1-202-224-3121. Ask to be connected to your Senator's office.
