2007 Medicare Prescription Drug Plans
Open Enrollment Guide

November 9, 2006

Open enrollment is November 15 to December 31, 2006.

Medicare Prescription Drug Plans (Medicare Part D Plans) are open to anyone who qualifies for Medicare. Every year there is an open enrollment period from November 15 to December 31, when beneficiaries may enroll or change plans. New plans may be available and coverage under your old plan may have changed.

• If you are not in a plan, now is the time to enroll!

• If you are already enrolled in a plan, now is the time to compare plans to make sure you are still in the plan that is right for you!

• If you are low-income, now is the time to make sure your low-income subsidy is in place for 2007, as it will help cover the costs of your medications!

November 15
Open enrollment begins.

December 8
Recommended “enroll by” date to prevent disruption in coverage.

December 31
Open enrollment ends. (The next open enrollment is November 2007.)

Important Note: New enrollment coverage begins January 1, 2007.

• To compare plans to make sure you are still in the best plan for you contact 1-800-Medicare or go online at www.medicare.gov.

• For one-on-one assistance in selecting the right plan for you, contact your SHIP. Locate your SHIP online at www.medicare.gov; under “Find Helpful Phone Numbers” and then “Related Websites.”

• Individuals with an annual income of around $15,000 may be eligible for the low income subsidy. You can apply online at www.ssa.gov/prescriptionhelp or at your local Medicaid office.

• For more Medicare Part D information contact the Center for Medicare Advocacy at www.medicare.advocacy.org or 202-216-0028.

Read and keep any Part D material you receive in the mail as it may be helpful in selecting the right plan!
